Vaibhav Global Limited is one of the largest jewelry manufacturing establishments in India, covering an area of 9,530 m2. It commenced operations in 2015 and employs 2,000 skilled workers and 1,000 staff members. It has an annual production of over four million jewelry pieces. The facility has implemented sustainability measures, which includes:

  1. Rainwater harvesting system with a capacity of 6,100 KL and a rainwater storage tank of 400 KL.
  2. Implemented solar power of 1.95 MW capacity which includes roof top solar panels (on-site) and ground mounted solar panels (off-site).
  3. Distributing electric two-wheelers to employees at no cost.
  4. 1000-liter thermal energy storage system.

Vaibhav Global Limited holds LEED Platinum certification and was awarded the ‘Net Zero Energy’ certification from IGBC in June 2023.

Design Strategies

Passive Strategies

Building Envelope

The building employs cavity wall construction for enhanced thermal insulation. The building also incorporates underdeck roof insulation for better thermal performance.

Daylight

The building is designed to maximize natural daylight, reducing the need for artificial lighting and enhancing occupant well-being. A solar tube system has been integrated on its roof to harness natural daylight. Further, double-glazed windows have been installed to reduce heat gain from facades.

Materials

Fly ash brick has been used as a primary construction material. The roof has been coated with high SRI (Solar Reflective Index) paints, which offers protection against heat, water, and dust.

Rainwater Harvesting

The facility harvests 6,100 KL of rainwater annually. It has a storage capacity of 500 KL for rainwater, which undergoes treatment and testing to produce drinking water. When the water tank reaches its capacity, the overflow is directed to ground recharge pits.

Active Strategies

Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning

The HVAC system includes a 1000-liter thermal energy storage system to facilitate energy-efficient manufacturing operations. The building has integrated variable frequency drives (VFD) in the mechanical system. This allows for precise control of the system’s operation, adjusting the motor’s speed and power consumption as needed to maintain optimal conditions while conserving energy. The building has also incorporated heat recovery wheels (HRW).

Energy-Efficient Lighting

All lighting fixtures installed in the building are LED.

Energy System

The building has installed energy meters for each operation, enabling the monitoring of energy wastage loops.

Water Management

The building includes water management practices, with rainwater harvesting being a key approach to conserve natural resources. A sewage treatment plant (STP) with a capacity of 130 KLD has been installed. The treated water is utilized for both cooling and irrigation purposes.

Renewable Energy

The objective of Vaibhav Global Limited is to use green energy and become carbon neutral for scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions by 2031. To date, the company has generated 12.4 million units of solar energy from all its solar power projects, equivalent to offsetting approximately 9000 tonnes of carbon emissions from the environment. For this facility, a 1.75 MW ground-mounted solar plant has been installed off-site, at Bikaner, Kolayat. It is operated on Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model with the Rajasthan state government. Additionally, a 200 kW on-site solar system has been installed on the rooftop of the facility.

Additional Information

Vaibhav Global Limited offers shuttle service for transportation within the campus. Free electric charging points have also been provided for e-vehicles (two and four wheelers).
